What is the tort “reform” movement?

The major players behind tort “reform” — such as the American Tort Reform Association (“ATRA”) — are not the grass-roots organizations they pretend to be; they are multi-million dollar “front” organizations created and funded by tobacco, insurance, chemical and pharmaceutical companies. The latest figures reveal that ATRA, alone, received more than $5.5 Million in one year from Fortune 500 corporations.
