Driver Sentenced For Fatal Racing Crash

Last summer, Denis Reyes, 18, was racing in a car on the streets of Long Beach.  Not only was the car stolen, but Reyes was drunk.  While racing, Reyes lost control and the two cars crashed in a vicious collision.  As a result of the accident, all four people in the other car were killed.
Reyes pleaded no contest to four counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.  On June 1st, 2011, he was finally sentenced.  Reyes was sentenced to 18 years in prison.  The crash, which happened almost a year ago has thus finally been settled, and the families of the dead victims can finally find some solace in this wrongful death case.  It might be a tough pill to ever fully swallow, but at least these families will get some compensation for their losses.  Of course, nothing can ever make up for someone’s life, but at least now, the families will receive the compensation for the damages and troubles they endured.
Drag racing and drunk driving often have devastating results.  High speeds and alcohol should never meet the road.  What’s most unfair is that the victim’s of such circumstances are sometimes innocent bystanders.  There is some solace for these victims however.  If you are the victim of an accident of such scope, make sure to contact a personal injury attorney who can guide you through the difficult process.  They’ll help you receive compensation better yet, make sure the negligent party is held accountable for their actions.
