Our client, a young woman who went to a restaurant for brunch with her family, sat at the table and the old bench upon which she was seated collapsed. Our client was seated with her legs folded underneath the bench. So, when the bench collapsed, the force came down directly on her legs and knees under her. She underwent injections in the knee. On behalf of our client, we alleged that the bench was defective and that the restaurant maintained the bench in a negligent manner. We were able to avoid much litigation on this one. The case settled early on for a confidential sum. And, in case one wonders, our client is a very slender, young woman.
Our client was motorcyclist who suffered severe injuries when a vehicle pulled out in front of him from a strip mall. The motorcyclist hit the side of the vehicle. He was ejected and flew over the vehicle, landing hard on the pavement. He suffered a compound ankle fracture as well as abrasions and road rash to his legs and knees. The motorcycle itself was destroyed, after sustaining major damage. Our client was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital. He was found to have suffered a severe ankle fracture that required surgical repair. We retained a nurse life care planner to evaluate the extent of the injuries and work with his physicians to create a life care plan for Mr. Wiseman. We did that in order to obtain a proper recovery that would give him access to funds to take care of his future health care needs stemming from the accident. The case recently settled. We wish our client the best of luck in his future.

Our client is a young girl who underwent a gall bladder surgery, also known as a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, due to inflammation of the gall bladder. The trouble occurred when the surgeon misidentified her anatomy and cut her common bile duct instead of her cystic duct when removing the gall bladder. Failing to recognize his mistake, he sewed her up and sent her home with bile leaking into her abdomen. The young girl’s parents quickly brought her back to the hospital. By this time, she was very nauseous and vomiting. The fix for the improper cutting of the common bile duct is a much more complicated surgery, called a Roux-en-Y Hepaticojejunostomy. This is a surgery similar to a gastric bypass.
