Our client is an avid bicyclist. While riding one morning, a car in the lane next to him cut him off by suddenly pulling into his lane. Our client recalls a flash coming from his left. Then everything went dark. His bicycle hit the car, launching him over the hood and into the street ahead.
Our client suffered serious injuries. He was wearing appropriate protective clothing and other gear. However, he hit his head in the impact. He still suffers from dizziness, headaches and some memory problems.
Medicare paid for a majority of the medical expenses, and as a result the economic damages were relatively minor. Yet, after our client’s deposition, the insurance carrier for the driver settled for the driver’s full policy limits of $300,000.
